Chatdok at Geneva Digital Health Day: Building Trust with Responsible AI in Health

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in healthcare, the conversation is shifting from what AI can do to how it should be used responsibly.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in healthcare, the conversation is shifting from what AI can do to how it should be used responsibly.

At Geneva Digital Health Day 2026, held during the World Health Assembly, Chatdok joined discussions on the future of digital health and the role of responsible AI in strengthening healthcare systems.

For Chatdok, the event was an opportunity to contribute to a broader conversation around a fundamental question: How can healthcare benefit from AI without compromising trust, safety or accountability?

Beyond AI capability

Healthcare is a particularly demanding environment for artificial intelligence. Decisions can affect patient outcomes, clinical workflows and access to care. As a result, technical performance alone cannot determine whether an AI solution is valuable.

Responsible healthcare AI needs to consider several dimensions at once: clinical relevance, patient safety, transparency, equity and human oversight.

This is especially important as AI moves from experimental applications into real-world healthcare settings. A system may be technically impressive, but that does not automatically make it appropriate for clinical use.

At Chatdok, we believe AI should be developed around meaningful healthcare challenges and designed to support, rather than replace, clinical expertise.

Trust is part of the technology

Trust in healthcare AI has multiple dimensions.

Clinicians need to understand when an AI system can provide useful support, where its limitations lie and when professional judgement should take precedence. Patients need confidence that their information is handled responsibly and that technology is being used in their interests.

This makes transparency and accountability more than regulatory considerations. They are fundamental elements of good healthcare technology.

For AI to become a trusted part of care, its recommendations and outputs need to be appropriately contextualised, evaluated and integrated into workflows where human professionals remain accountable.

From innovation to measurable impact

Geneva Digital Health Day also highlighted a broader shift in digital health: moving beyond the excitement surrounding new technologies towards measurable outcomes.

For healthcare AI, that means asking practical questions:

Does it improve continuity of care? Can it support earlier intervention? Does it help clinicians make better-informed decisions? Is it accessible and useful for different patient populations? Can its benefits and limitations be demonstrated transparently?

These questions are particularly relevant to chronic disease management, where meaningful changes can develop between appointments and where continuous support can play an important role.

Building the future responsibly

Events such as Geneva Digital Health Day provide an important space for healthcare leaders, policymakers, clinicians and technology companies to examine not only the potential of AI, but also the responsibilities that come with it.

For Chatdok, the future of healthcare AI is not about replacing human care with technology. It is about using technology to make care more continuous, proactive and informed — while keeping clinical judgement, safety and patient trust at the centre.

Responsible AI is ultimately not a separate ambition from healthcare innovation. It is what makes that innovation sustainable.
